This short journey commenced at Little Bay, on the La Perouse peninsula.

A pair of atmospheric photos taken by a generous passing photographer: Arfan

The sea swell was wrapping the island in its embrace (and the sky was ominously darkening) so we reasoned that we would paddle on to Clovelly and give the sea and its tide a chance to abate.

An hour later and the conditions were much improved ...

Glancing back at Australia (!)

Leaving our kayaks on the island we snorkelled off its north-western shore.

This collage by Joe Agius is a nice interpretation of how it looked under the water's surface - scattered light and a colour pallette of blues, greens and yellows. Very coastal Sydney.

Panorama from the island. Bronte headland to the left, Maroubra to the right.

Wedding Cake island was once a headland too.

A light nor-easter filled in the morning to take us back along the cliffs to Little Bay.
